DRAWBACKS TO TRADITIONAL BICYCLE FINISHES - WHY IS CERAKOTE BETTER THAN BICYCLE PAINT?
Many bikers agree that the bike’s overall weight is one of the more crucial purchasing factors when looking for a mountain or road bike. When compared to powder coat or other paint-based coating applications, Cerakote is a thin film ceramic based single coating (it is applied at.0005″ to.001″) that results in a weight savings of two to four hundred grams (on average).
Road bikes and off-road bikes, particularly mountain bikes, are subject to abrasive wear and tear whether they are used for racing or recreational riding. A performance coating made of ceramic is called Cerakote. The overall finish of your bike will be protected by Cerakote’s industry-leading durability, hardness, scratch resistance, and chemical resistance. Cerakote is resistant to chemicals like brake fluid, chain lube, and road oil and tar, as well as to the chipping and blistering that are frequently seen in existing paint finishes.
Additionally, the anti-rust qualities of Cerakote’s unique composition offer excellent protection for small mechanical parts. Its low coefficient of friction and lubricity also result in less wear on moving parts, which can significantly increase longevity and contribute to a smoother ride. Mechanical efficiency is increased when friction is reduced.
The majority of bicycle frame refinishing and/or production can be done with either Cerakote Elite or H-Series. On frames, forks, handlebars, stems, seat posts, rims, hubs, spokes, cassettes, and other tiny parts, the customising options are virtually limitless.
